Error installing SAP BW SR1 Component

Former Member

Hi,

Got a problem installing NetWeaver SAP BW 3.5 SR1 Component on a WAS 6.40 SR1 (not patched up yet!!!, this means still SP9). This WAS installation is a second WAS installation. There's already a SAP WAS 6.40 SR1 installation for XI 3.0 SR1 (patched up to SP12) on the same server.

The problem appears during the BW installation, sapinst.log included :

Hi Yamiee,

You should not do it,unless and until..you are running out of servers.

SHOULD NOT DO THIS AT-ALL IF THE SERVERS are going for Production.

Let me know the Physical congif. of the server you are trying to install.

Hi,

Server IS NOT intended for production purposes, just for test purposes. Furthermore this is the only server that is available.

Server config:

cpu : 2 intel xeon ht 3.0ghz

ram : 4gb soon to be upgraded to 8gb

os : windows 2000 advanced server

raid 5 config, 135,5gb total

Not sure why you want to know.

This is the only server available and is NOT, I repeat NOT for production nor in the future.

By the way, you still haven't explained me why i shouldn't install multiple WAS on a single server!!!

Regards,

Yammie.

Solved it with al little help from my co-worker.

Used note 860939 to unpacked the SDMKIT.jar and copy the SDM.jar file.

Also upgraded the server from 4gb to 8gb RAM. Now both WAS installation with XI and BW are running perfectly.

As for Vikas, you stil haven't answered my question why I shouldn't install two WAS on a single server!

Greetings,

Hi,

Please do not install 2 WAS`s on a single server.

If possible do the BW installation on the other server.

Hi,

Can you explain to me why I shouldn't install multiple WAS system on 1 single server??

Besides that, the server is for test purposes!
