HI All,
In SAP BW3.5-
What is a Cache Memory? What is its use?
In Cache Monitor (Tcode-RSRCACHE), what is Local Cache and Global cache?
And also What is the Persistence Mode?
Points will be rewarded.

Cache Memory is a temporary space in the BW system where results from the query execution are stored - the concept of cache is very similar to the caching done on web pages by IE.
The example would be - once you execute a query - the data gets stored in cache and then when you execute it again - the data is fetched from cache and not from the tables again - this improves the speed of execution.
RSRCACHE gives you the cache parameters - global cache - if you have multiple app servers - then the cache is common to all the servers - if you have a local cache - it is specific to that app server only.
Persistence mode - this refers to how much of cache you want to have - do you want to maintain cache by way of flat files in the app server or have the cache automatically purge older data by a FIFO method...
