system copy question

Former Member

Hi,

I'm running R/3 4.6c on SQL server 2000.

i would like to make a system copy of my production system in order to create from it a new QA system.

my source (production) DB files are called elpdata1,elpdata2,elpdata3.(according to my production system SID which is elp).

since my target system will be a QA system it will have a different SID - ELT.

can i just rename the copied DB files to eltdata1,eltdata2,eltdata3 and attach them to the new coped system?

or is there another procedure i need to do?

Regards,

Moshe

Hi,

Above SAP Note mentioned only for MSSQL Database copy.

You have to perform post procedure for SAP system.

After finishing DB file copy (attach, or import whatever it called), restart SAPOSCOL and SAP service,

(You might have to apply sap license here)

Set BTC = 0, and start SAP.

Delete all background jobs (SM37)

Delete all unnecessary RFC (SM59)

Reset BTC back to original, and restart SAP.

Run SE06 (database copy)

Run STMS (re include new system)

Run BDLS (convert logical system name)

Update SCC4 (T000) from production to test

And there could be more depending on your system.

Thanks.

Hi,

yes, you can rename them. But see note 151603 for the full procedure.

Best regards
