Hi Experts,
I had a doubt on alert configuration plz clarify it if any one worked on alerts.
1.If we use function module to trigger alert then we have to write a report program.Doubt comes here this REPORT PGM has to be written in the BACK END SYSTEM (or) XI SERVER ? Provide any blogs on alert configuration and how to trigger alerts.
Plz clarify it descriptive answers will be rewarded.

Vinod.
Hi,
Function module location will depends upon the situation,
If you want to validate a data which is coming to XI with the data which resides in a R3 table where you will companre the data of file and table and accordingly raise an alert. In that case you should call alert function module at the R3 side to raise an alert.
Again function module location will depends upon the type of validation.
For raising an alert you need to first configure the alert please follow the below weblog written by Michal Krawczyk

Configuration steps are: go to transaction ALRTCATDEF
1) Define Alert Category
2) Create container elements which are used for holding an error messages.
3) Recipient Determination.
Alert can be triggered in different ways.

2) Triggering by Calling a Function Module in the Workplace Plug-In.
3) Triggering with an Event Linkage.
4) Triggering with the Post Processing Framework (PPF) or Message Control (MC)
