can any body help me what is the impact of USAGE in item category determination how it ll carry over valus ..........

Hi Reddy

The item category usages which control the usage of an item. Item category usage controls, for example, the system response if during document processing an item does not refer to a material but to a text item. Item category usage can also be maintained via the item categories (detail screen for item categories:

Goto -> Item usage).

<b>Default settings</b>

In the standard SAP R/3 System, the following usages are defined:

o Batch split

o Text item

o Service item relevant for billing

o Service item not relevant for billing

<b>Actions</b>

1. Check first whether you can copy the usages in the standard system.

2. If necessary, create a new item category usage by entering an

alphanumeric key with a maximum of four characters and a

description.

menu path:

Spro --> Sales and Distribution --> Sales --> Sales Documents --> Sales Document Item --> Define Item Category Usage .

use:

Example:

If particular customer, particular material should be delivered from vendor ,we maintain item usage(AAAA) then that item usage will be assigned to that Customer material information record.(IN VD51 GOTO>INFORECORD DETAILS>CONTROL>GIVE THAT USAGEAAAA)

IN VOV4

ORNORMAAAA--->TAS.Then create s.order.then that item automatically act as thirdparty item for that particular customer only.

Also if we want a customer to give items free for a particular material, we can maintain the same in VD51 (Customer Material Information Record). It gets directly effected in the sales order.

Hi,

Usage field is mainly used depending on its usage like

usage of item may be free of charge or it may be text item etc.

it also influences the final item category in sales order.
