Hi gurus,

I applyed the following patches at O.S. level

CUMPKG 7198

HIPER LVL 126

DB2 LVL 17

JAVA LVL 17

PTF MF41726

PTF MF42052

PTF MF42053

after this applyed, the cache optimizer was reset.

since this applyed the system have many sequential reads, and the performance is very low.

I check the ST04 and the data here is blank, I not activate the dbmon because i am affraid this cause problem in system performance (i have DB with 5 TB size).

I open a PMR at IBM, but them say the server is OK.

Any suggestions???

Best Regards,

Ernesto Castro.

Hi Ernesto,

How recent is your 4.6D kernel?

I also assume this is an DB optimizer problem, which should be solved by applying the latest infoapar ptf's, including the hiper #130 and deleteing the SQL packages.

But your kernel should be high enough also to leverage all the OS benefits brought to you by the PTF's.

Hi Paul,

sorry to say, but:

Installing PTFs is one thing and installing a kernel patch another ...

Not, that I would not recommend to update the kernel as well, but at least you do NOT need latest kernel patches in order to leverage DB improvements )

That will work "on the fly"

try applying the Hyper Fix pack of level 130, which is the latest one since you applied the latest ones for the others....for V5R3...

Hi,

Deleting SQL packages using DLTR3PKG will certainly solve the issue. I had this issue few days back and deleting packages worked.

If this doesn't solve the purpose, paste SM21 logs over here.

Hi gurus,

I delete the SQLPKG weekly. the system not have any error in SM21, any dumps.

after applyed this patches the SQL packages was deleted.

I think this is a error in DB optimizer or DB monitor.

Every work process run for long time in sequential reads, is this the only one simptom.

I have R3 4.6C with OS400 V5R3M0.

This may sound obvious but you didn't specifically state so in the question:

Did you delete the SQL packages before restarting SAP instance?
