Hi,

Can some one help me in getting this <b>Where to Position the UDS in your Landscape and Why</b> document. I am trying to download it from SDN wiki. But that URL is not working. This document is really good document.

The document should be ready just 'after' the 4.0 UDSs go into GA.

Srini,

The document was removed from the SDN; not because the technical content was bad....

As for the positioning here's some things to keep in mind:

1) Not all UDSs are able to communicate across the network (ie: OPC-DA)

2) The best performance gain will come from installing the UDS on the historian due to compressed network communication between the UDS and xMII.

3) Since some systems are validated environments and are not easily changed you can install some UDSs on other servers (ie xMII). With that said see point #1.

4) The UDSs can allow you to bridge network domains from the internet facing network to a local network to the plant secure network. In this scenario xMII, UDS, and Historian are all on different machines.

Just some things to consider.
