XI Infrastructure Decision

Hi All,

Is there any XI Benchmark in regard to Infrastructure available .

I need to take decision whether current XI infrastructure in client landscape is ok or do we need to scape the infrastructure.

here is current landscape details.

SAP XI Version 3.0

Service Pack 19

Host Physical Memory 70 GB

Host RAM 3GB

Host System Window Server 2003

J2EE Server SAP J2EE Engine/6.40

at present we have very few GM (about 8 GB) memory free on the host system..

and we have only 5 interfaces running..

Question:

In six months , we are going to have atleast 20 to 25 more interfaces. and after that there is possibility of many more interfaces coming up..

Is current settig ok.. or do i need to scale up the infrastructure...

Ranjeet Singh.

I think you need more memory and more disk space. How many processors does (or will) this server have ?

We're running production on a 6 way IBM p-series with 48 gb of memory and 500 gb of disk space, and we have about 40 interfaces running, most of which are complex with content conversion and bpm.

Hi Ranjeet,

Configuration is Ok! But later on there can be a problem of Physical memory. But for 20-40 nterfaces it is ok.

Hi ,

I used Quick Sizer tool .. taking into consideration that there will be avarage of 2000 order per day. Keeping in mind that each order will result into average of 4 interface flows and size of each message is 3-5 KB , I got SAPS in range of 600 to 800 which I tally against SD Benchmark and found out that Disk size required is around 8 to 10 GB ..i don;t know how correct it is but that's what i found.. I am not clear with sizing procedure....do u have any experiece in this regards...

one more points..

As for each flow of data , XI produce lots of trace messages. I got chance to free space on XI host system and found out the only 9 GB of free space is remaining..

I think it will affect the system performance as we build more interfaces.. how much of memory should be free in host system to a good performance...i know we need to archive procedure in place.

Ranjeet,

I will suggest you to increase your physical memory. I just spoken to my basis person he told me it is not enough. Later on there will be performance issue.

To check your performance just run any scenario and see if it take 20-40 sec to execute it then it is ok.
