The landscape depends upon the usual requirements and processes followed at ur organization. The landscape may consist of many boxes like Dev, QA, Acceptance, Cutover, Prod. But usually it is similar to that of ABAP environment. i.e., Dev, QA, Prod.

In XI, the transport mechanism is different. It is either using

1. File system transport or

2. CCMS

Hello,

SAP XI customer landscapes contain several separate sub-landscapes for development and tests (DEV), quality assurance (QA), and production (PRD). The sub-landscapes are described in the SAP System Landscape Directory (SLD). There are two basic options for the SLD granularity:

• Multiple SLDs:

 DEV landscape described in SLD_DEV

 QA landscape described in SLD_QA

 PRD landscape described in SLD_PRD

• Centralized SLD

All sub-landscapes, DEV, QA, and PRD, are described in a single SLD_CENTRAL

The basic strategy is to copy the sub-landscape including the Integration Builder and the SLD. The procedure does not depend on which SLD setup was chosen.

Hi anshul,

generally there exists 3 server in XI Also.

1)Development server

2)Quality Server

3)Production

yes !! we build our interfaces in DeV first....then for quality will transport our objetcs to QA...after test we agian transport to production...

in IR and ID u r having export and import options...

Let me tell u how the transport happens....

Suppose u need to transport some objects/interfaces from Dev to QA.go to IR in DEV ->Export the required objects. after u click finish a .tpz file will be created in ur local sys for Dev server. Now u copy that .Tpz file in the local sys of QA server. Now u import this file in IR of QA.Similer way it is done for ID objects.

The same happens on XI. Development happens on one system and gets transported to the next. The way this is done is that the objects get exported, which creates files. These files are then taken to the next system and imported. This can be done manually or with a tool like CMS.

For configuration you do the same but you need to configure the SLD to point to the new systems.
