Input Field data format in WAD

Hi,

i used a input field in my web template..I assigned Date charecterstic to this Input Field.. previously.. for executing this query i gave YYYY.MM.DD date format

it was executed fine...insted of this.. if i gave any other format it would not accept other formats...

but now automatically it was changed... i means.. if i gave the above format data means. it was not taking.. insted of that if i gave DDMMYYYY format.. it was executing fine..

so, can you plz explain the reason for change... how it was accepting this format..
