Is anyone help to explain what is subsitution & Validation in SAP and what are the steps to set up the rule.
Thanks
This is from old posting
A validation is used to check that entries made in the system meet a certain criteria, otherwise an error (or warning) message will be given. For example if you want a general ledger account to only be posted to using a particular cost center, you can set up a validation to give an error message anytime a user posts to a different cost center.
Ex: you donot want user to post in dates other than current dates.
A substitution is used to populate the value of a filled based on certain criteria. For example, if you want you can tell the system that anytime someone posts to a particular general ledger account, the profit center field should be populated (with any value that you want).
