The user-specified MEDIANAME does not match the MEDIANAME of the device

Hello, Experts.

I'm receiving the message below (db13) when my scheduled backup job runs for the second time and then. I identified that SAP tries to use a medianame that contains the day the of the run, so the SAP medianame changes everyday.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

during the init and format of a tape every tape gets a medianame and a expiration date. As long as the expiration date is not reached, you cannot overwrite the tape with another medianame. The transactionlog tape that gets formatted through the DB13 can be used only for one day. The expiration time is 28 days, so that you can use this tape again in 4 weeks. This will ensure that you have at least 4 weeks of backups for your database.

Hello Clas, Thanks for the quick response.

The problem is that I have this working now, but I'm not able to create one by myself.

I'm daily writing 3 backups to a disk directory (ECC, Portal user data and Log). Some hours latter, another agent makes the backup of the entire directory to the tape.

Any other suggestion?

Thanks again.
