Hi Everybody !!
We have a common transport directory i.e. /usr/sap/trans.
We want to transport a request from DEV > QA > PROD
As part of the initial config , I have ip add of each server in each of /etc/hosts
and Production being the Domain controller , this /usr/sap/trans of the Production is mounted
on DEV and QA.
I have searched on SAP Help Portal and I found a doc regarding Transporting a Request when the Transport Directory is not common... But, i did not find anything for the scenario when the Transport Dir is common i.e. the same Transport Directory is used for DEV > QA > PROD .
So, does anyone has idea about how the Transport Config / Procedure would defer when the Transport Dir is common for each of the three system...??
Helpful answeres would always be rewareded with point, without failure ..
Thanks,
- Ishan Patel

Dear Ishan,
In most landscapes, the transport directory is kept common and is mounted as a shared directory among all the three systems.
Different common transport directories are used when security issues prevent access to the directory from another system or when the systems are heterogenous.
The TMS configuration for the Common TD is the most common and is described in the following URL
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/44/b4a09a7acc11d1899e0000e829fbbd/frameset.htm
Also,
when the Transport directories are different to each system,
Refer to SAP Note 83327
Hope this helps.

Hello Ishan,
Transport directories are common in most production scenarios. So if you havev dobe the configuration correctly in STMS the transport should work. Anyways check this out:
