Month should be 12, period 1 and year shift -1.

You have to define for the year 2006 and the first period from the year 2005 with -1 in the year shift.

Your quesion is not too clear.
Somehting about shortened fiscal year:
When you define a shortened fiscal year, you have to make the following specifications:
A shortened fiscal year must always be defined as year-dependent, since it can only apply to a specific year and must be followed by a complete fiscal year.
You define a shortened fiscal year and the following or previous complete fiscal year in one fiscal year variant.

There are two issues here.
One is understanding whether this is a shortened fiscal year or not. Once this is understood the next issue is how to define. Defining the FYV comes second. So we need to understand whether this is shortened fiscal year though it contains 10 periods covering 12 months.
This is SAP definition of shortened fiscal year:
Defining shortened fiscal year
A shortened fiscal year is a fiscal year having less than twelve months,
but for which year-end closing must be carried out. The definition of a
shortened fiscal year is always year-dependent, since it represents a
year-related exception. You must always define an entire calendar year
when defining a fiscal year variant. The year-related fiscal year
variant therefore contains not only the periods from the shortened
fiscal year, but also other periods from the previous or subsequent
fiscal year.
There are two ways to define a shortened fiscal year:
o If you only use Financial Accounting (FI) without Asset Accounting
(FI-AA), you can begin a fiscal year with any period.
Example
If your shortened year goes from January to September, you can
assign periods 004 to 012. Assign periods 001 to 003 of the new
fiscal year to the months October-December.
Specify the number of periods for the fiscal year variant (12 in the
example above).
Note
Keep in mind that the last period of a fiscal year must correspond
to the number of periods in that year. This means that if you want
to define 12 periods, the last period in that year must be number
12.
As per this definition u dont fall under the category of Shortened fiscal year
Shortened fiscal year comes in only when you do not have all the 12 months in the 10 periods.

You have to click on the 'Periods' and define the periods for that fiscal year variant. When you define the periods for the year 2006, if some of the periods fall in the year 2005, then you have to give '-1' in the year shift column or if the periods fall in 2007, it should be '+1'.

You have to create a new fiscal year variant as year dependent and with posting periods as 10. And then assign the ending dates of the periods for each period and if one of the period falls in the next calendar year you have to enter '+1' in the 'year shift' column for that period.

hi venkat
thanks for the reply
Actually i have to configure for 2006 and 2007.
Now as my fiscal year starts from oct 30,05. Should i have to configure for 05 fiscal year.
So after going into ob29, clicking new entries > new entries> 10 posting periods-->
now should i go into period tabs or period texts or shorted fiscal year tab?
