Cannot Start SAP

I have an NW4 test drive running on linux/db2. It used to run well, and I don't remember changing anything.

However, I can no longer start SAP. The database is running , and I can connect using the CLP "db2" as sapsi4 and si4adm, and select from SAP tables.

However, running the usr/sap/SI4/SYS/exe/run/startdb script, specifically the line R3trans -d -w xx.log produces an error indicating a bad password.

Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this, and what I could have done to cause the problem? Below is the output. Sorry if it isn't very readable.

Hi Jerry,

Maybe your SAP License expired, try getting a new license from http://www.sap.com/solutions/netweaver/minisap.epx.

Cheers,

Hi Sanjeev. Thanks for the response. My installation is only about 2 weeks old, and I think my license is good until November.

This is very frustrating. Thanks for your help.

Hi Jerry,

Try executing "R3trans -x", whether this also give the same error (most prbably it will).

Are you logged in using si4adm user ? it could be an environment variable issue as well.

Cheers,

Sanjeev

Someone else pointed out to me that it could be password related.

I did change the password for user sapsi4, since it comes delivered with password sapsi4.

That apparently got it out of sync with an encrypted IBM password for the database. Once it changed the password back to sapsi4, it works!

Thanks for your help.
