Page file concepts and how to define its size ?

Hello Experts ,

Wt is the concept and use of defining page files in standard oracle and SAP installations ? why do we need to define it ?

how much size is defined for page file size and on wt factors does it depend ? and where is it defined ?

which platform?

for 32-bit there was rule to configure [3...4*(size of RAM)], installation guides for latest SAP products recommend:

10GB on 32-bit Windows

20GB on 64-bit Windows

however, these are only start values - you can increase/decrease them in process depending on your system needs (workload, buffer size, amount of RAM installed etc.)
