Information broadcasting questions

Hi All,

I have some basic questions regarding your experiences with broadcasting.

It's possible to email broadcast a report as a link or attachment. Have you been able to broadcast a report to the body of an Outlook email (so end user can view it right in the mail)? If so, how?

Have you been able to set size limitations for an email broadcast? For example, if a broadcasted report reaches 4mb, do not send it to the Exchange server.

Would appreciate your feedback here.

Thanks,

Erwin

Erwin,

For Outlook file size restrictions - usually they are set in the exchange server and done by the e-mail admin. Atleast thats the way it works here for us.

We have been able to send HTML files also and if the display images option is set we are able to see the contents in the body of the mail.

Hi Erwin,

You can send the report as body in an outlook mail. When you use the MHTML option the content of the report is shown in the body of the email. There is a catch though, the format is generally screwed up as almost everyone has the security settings turned on in outllook - "not to download images automatically". To overcome that, you have to make the change to the security in outlook settings. To do this, you can either download everything automatically (not recommended due to security risk) or you can add your sender in trusted zone.

As for the size limitations, I am not aware of any settings on the Information broadcasting. But you may check with the basis team to see if you can regulate this through the email exchange settings on BW backend.
