Why MDM in homogenous or single system landscape

If at all i need to include MDM in a organization which include only SAP system.. what are all the advantages i will get out of MDM...

In single system landscape we use MDM at the time of upgradation of system..

Govada - You said that you have single system (SAP) landscape for your client...

but you have not clarified if you have other SAP systems like CRM,SRM,BW implemented for your client..If so..MDM will be helpful for consolidating and harmonizing master data across systems..

But if you client has only one R/3 system installed , MDM may not be useful...

Rule of thumb : MDM is fit for the scenarios where you have your Master data residing/being maintained by diffrent systems. (R/3 has its own customer maintainance and CRM has its own..) in this case MDM is of best use.
