Hi All,
Apart from from SAP Applications, I have some nonSAP
applications in the landscape. I want to integrate nonSAP
Applications using XI, They are either some custom VB
applications, or some database applications.
Their input and output operations are using flat text
files/CSV files or some fixed length flat file ASCII
formats.
What all hardware, software are needed to integrate this
scenario ?
I have seen we can do it with adapters but What do i need
to purchase/install at the application systems to talk to
XI?
And what are hte steps that has to be done at the technical level ??
Any input is appreciated
Regards,
RM
Hi Ruby,
>>>And what are hte steps that has to be done at the technical level ??
you can find many weblogs describing your exact scenario
(file to file using file/ftp adapter)
like this one:
/people/krishna.moorthyp/blog/2005/06/09/walkthrough-with-bpm
you may also find many other weblogs about file adapter
thet you can use on the XI weblog page:
https://www.sdn.sap.com/sdn/weblogs.sdn?blog=/weblogs/topic/16
like using content conversion , etc with many many examples
>>>>I have seen we can do it with adapters but What do i need

if you buy XI you'll have everything that you need to
create your file - file scenarios, file/ ftp adapter is
already included so you don't have to buy anything more

you may take a look at qucik sizer:

Hi Michal,
Thanks for your help. I have seen the weblogs and links,
it all talks about how to configure the File adapters.
I need to know if i want to integrate 2 nonSAP applications
than what exactly i need to install in the applications systems ?
Will it be a centralized adapter or decentralized ?
is it J2EE Adapter or J2SE Adapter ? Where can i find those adapters ?
DO I need PCK ???
If it is in the standard installation CD than whats the file name and
where i can find it in the CD ??
regards,
RM
Hi Ruby,
First you need to install XI(instlln docs u can find in service.sap.com).You may go for centralised adapters now.
No need of separate installation for these adapters.
Then you need to include your nonSap systems in your SLD in buisness and technical systems.
Hardware requiremnts for XI given in htis thread:
regards
Priyanka
Hi,
you just have to install XI
no need to install anything more (no decentralized adapters, nothing more)
go to:
https://websmp206.sap-ag.de/swdc
- Installations and Upgrades
--- Search for Installations and Upgrades
and type: exchange
you'll find the required CDs
then you have to go with "xi installation guide"
and "XI configuration guide"
BTW
you can also take a look at this weblog:
