Gaurab,

SAP ODA (OPC Data Access) is a component for reading and writing values of and into any OPC Data Access server of version 1.0 or 2.0. OPC stands for OLE f(Object Linking and Embedding) for Process Control and represents an industry standard based on COM/DCOM technologies. It defines a set of vendor-independent interfaces for use in process automation and was specifically designed to meet the requirements of process control level. OPC servers provide process data that OPC clients can request. This facilitates data exchange between applications considerably.

SAP offers the SAP ODA component based on the OPC industry standard. One of the components of SAP ODA is the SAP ODA Connector, which is located outside the SAP system.

It can be used to connect to Shop Floor MES systems to send data back in forth, e.g creating Process Messages to receive information and trigger transactions with SAP, and data sent out like Process Instructions etc.
