<u><b>Urgent: :</b></u>

Hi experts

Day before Y'day there due some reasons our file system unmounted later we bring back the same.

After wards I could n't able to import the request to PRD system(2 sys land scape).

<b>1</b>. RDDIMPDP Jobs starting and log is as follows (From SM37)

Job started

Step 001 started (program RDDIMPDP, variant , user ID DDIC)

Program RDDIMPDP is running in client 000

Header P: Acc. to TRBAT, job 10333801 is still running. Checking job status

Header P: Job 10333801 still has status released

Job finished

<b>2</b> Truck remaining same...

Checked SLOG: It shows repeatedly

ERROR: Background job not running properly. Function: P Jobcount: 10333801 Status: S.

Please check the system. Use transactions SM21, SM37, SM50.

<b>3</b>. I tried to import at OS level same error as above (Item 2)

<b>4</b>. I tried tp connect SID, it is throwing error

This is tp version 320.57.06 (release 620)

E-TPSETTINGS could not be opened.

EXIT

Error in TPSETTINGS: transdir not set.

tp returncode summary:

TOOLS: Highest return code of single steps was: 0

ERRORS: Highest tp internal error was: 0208

tp finished with return code: 208

meaning:

error in transportprofil (param missing, unknown,...)

<b>5</b>. Even I tried to run RDDNEWPP in SE38 with high priority with user DDIC in client 000 and prd client of target system. Still imports are not happening and trucking is hanging there all the way.

Please provide clue ASAP. . . . .

Hi Guys,

My problem got solved and according awarded points for you guys. Infact, I requested SAP, in parellel, so hesuggested same as you guys suggested as a whole except they asked to delete entry in TRBAT also.

Am summerizing the same as a list below (It may be useful in future for some one else):

1. Configure RDDIMPDP jobs both in client 000 and business client as user DDIC (Login to client as DDIC, run RDDNEWPP in SE38, select High priority)

2. STMS -> Import Overview -> SID -> Menu Goto-> Import Monitor ->

Delete the entries related to those old transport request that are not

currently running. You can see the requests are in running status. To

delete right click and delete.

3. OS level using command "ps -ef | grep tp"

Kill these processes if any using the below command:

"kill -9 <pid>"

4. Check the contents of transport tables TRBAT & TRJOB via SE16.

Before starting a transport, these tables must be empty.Delete the entry using SM30/SM31.

Dear Jalli,

A returncode of 200+ normally shows that the error is with tp

Kindly check that all the parameter settings for tp are appropriate.

Kindly perform the tp check from STMS and also the transport directory check.

Also check the permissions on the CTD after remounting the file system.

Dear Shantanu A Sardeshmukh,

Thanks for reply . . . Can you please elaborate how to perform tp check from STMS and transport directory check. . .

We hv 2 arrays (one is having like usr/sap/trans, oracle/SID/sapdata1, oracle/SID/sapdata2 etc and 2nd array oracle/SID, origlogA&B, MirrlogA&B, saparch etc. The fibre optic cable between the 2nd array and first got spoiled so all file systems in 2nd array got unmounted. When we clean the cable, reconnected and boot the server all file systems came mounted automatically, I mean we hv n't mount again.). Any way I will check.

I forgot to add:-

When I got to usr/sap/trans/bin and executed command <b>tp pf=usr/sap/trans/bin/TP_DOMAIN_SID.PFL connect SID</b> ,return code came 0

And all RDDPMPDP jobs are running but ending in no time with result success but truck is showing all the way. . .

Dear Jalli

You can do the tp and trans directory check as follows

STMS --> Overview --> Systems

SAP System --> Check --> Transport tool/ Transport directory

You can even do a connection test to check out the RFC connection.

Kindly let me know what happens there

Dear Jalli,

When you said, that your second array disconnected because of a connection error, and then the connection problem was fixed and you Started up the system and the system auto mounted the second array right?

Please check if the drives mounted have been remounted on the same mount points that they were mounted originally.

The second Array consists of /oracle/SID so its important that the files get remounted on the same mount points.

Also, the tp error says that the profile parameters are not set correctly.

Do you have a backup of tp_DOMAIN.PFL which you can restore?

Just a line of thought

Dear Shantanu,

I dont see any problem while remounting the file systems. Also Our regular business transactions are going on. May be I need to confirm the permissions of CTD (i.e. /usr/sap/trans) thogh is not unmounted. I wil check that and confirm 2row. Apart from this do u suspect any other issues. . . . .

Reg backup of tp_DOMAIN.PFL, i need to see i kno there is one BKF file but not sure if I can use it back, cause that was done by previous Basis guy (am 7 months old in this project.)

Jalli,

The error that you are getting is misguiding at times. I have seen this in the past.

Please check 2 more things,

1. Check if there are any entries in the Table TRJOB, if yes delete it, kill all tp processes at OS Level and try importing again.

2. I hope you have made sure that there are enough Background WPs.

Let us know what happens.

Hello Jalli,

Please follow what has been suggested by Bidwan.

Kill all exisiting TP proceses, delete all entries in import monitor as also delete all files related only to the transport being imported from /usr/trans/tmp directory and then proceed with re-import.

Regards.

Ruchit.

Dont touch the TRBAT table. Delete the TRJOB entry, kill the tp process from the OS Level and then restart transporting...

Hi Bidwan Baruah,

I did as follows

1. Deleted only entry in TRJOB table

2. Killed tp processes

3. Deleted that req entry in ursr/sap/trans/data & ursr/sap/trans/cofiles

4. ftp'd entries back to ursr/sap/trans/data & ursr/sap/trans/cofiles

5. OS command executed for adding to buffer (Recd retn code: 0)

6. From STMS, I selected that particular request . . . <b>but still it is showing truck symbol</b>

Ok...What happens when you execute the transport from OS level? Are you in a position to bounce(restart) SAP and check once?

Former Member

Dear Jalli,

"meaning:

error in transportprofil (param missing, unknown,...)"

Is this entry still persistent in the logs?

Considering that the imports have stopped after the communication breakdown and reconnection but everything else works fine makes me think that it is an issue at the OS level / file system level.

Jalli,

Also please check if the file TP_PARAM.PFL is not modified recently and is valid and correct as per your landscape.

Hi,

I cannot bounce the system (It is Prod and other operations are running, normal)

And even now also SLOG is showing

ERROR: Background job not running properly. Function: P Jobcount: 10333801 Status: S.

Please check the system. Use transactions SM21, SM37, SM50.

Actually who shold be the creator of RDD* jobs ?? SAP* or DDIC.

Dear Jalli,

Please do the following,

tp explain 208

This will tell you the exact meaning of the error tp is giving

Please let me know what that error is

Also, check Alog for rc 208 and find out which exact step is giving this return code error
