No buffer space available (max connections reached)

Hi all,

I am trying to upgrade our WAS6.40 to the latest SP level on WIN 2003 server. However, whenever I run Visual Admin or SAPInst, I am getting the following error:

No buffer space available (maximum connections reached?): recv failed.

I have plenty of RAM available and paging file is also large enough.

Do you have any idea how I may resolve the problem?

Regards,

Hart

Hello Hart,

Can you check how many open sockets you have on this machine and which process had opened them? Please check if it is the same problem as described in http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;196271

Kind Regards

Hi Ananda and Vyara,

Thanks a lot for your replies!

Restart did not help (including restart the machine).

From the google search I also hit the same MS page. Obviously it did not help either. I guess there is some problem with connection to the SQL server. I checked the tcp connections and another server which is running well has more connections than this one.

Hart

Hi,

Stop the SAP System, Restart the DATabase and start the SAP System and try.
