Tried to change the existing item category while creating an order, I get a error message "This item category is not allowed for this item".
Does any one know if I link the new item category to the ordertype will resolve the issue?
Hi Arju,
Hope your problem is solved, by assigning Item category to Sales ordfer and Item Ctaegory Group in material master for that respective material.
Kindly assign them to your desired combination and your problem will be solved.
please dont forget to reward point to the useful answers.

Hi,
The problem is because of the item category determination.
If you want to change the itemcategory manually in the order, the manual item category has to be mainatained.
Sales doc + Usage + Item cat gorup + Item category + Manual item category
If you want to change the item category manually in order, you need to mainatain the item category as manual item category.

Hi,
Its possible to change the item category in the sales order.
For this you have to maitain a 'manual item categries' in item category determination (VOV4).
Hope this will solve your problem.

Hi,
Go to VOV4.
and Assign the item category based on
Sales order type
Item Category group ( From Material Master - Sales ORg 2 View )
Usage (U can leave it blank if not usefull)
Here you will maintain default Item category , IF you want to change the item category manually you can enter the allowed categories in the same row.

Ajai
