Former Member

Hi,

I am trying to connect to SAP r/3 system using a transactional iview and system.

My portal is on one server and the SAP r/3 to which I need to connect is on other server,so I created the system with all the details of the server having SAP R/3 system.and provided the system name and the transaction code to iview.

Now my system's connetion test shows that the connection is successfull. But I am not able to get any result in the preview of the iview.

It should show the SAP r/3 system's transaction's initial screen but it give the error that page cannot be displayed .

The SAP R/3 system's server is active and working properlly.

Please can anyone tell me, what else I need to do to get the preview or am I missing any step, which I should have done inorder to get the correct result.

Please reply ASAP its urgent...

Thanks,

Gunja

Are you opening the iview for editing and clicking preview or right mouse click -> preview? Right mouse click -> preview does not work on some patch levels.

Also - what is the error? Just saying 'an error' does not really allow us to help you.

Hi paul,

Thanks for reply..

I tried opening the preview by rigth click to iview and then preview as well as going to edit mode then preview... still the same...

The Error is "The page cannot be displayed"

It contain these technical points -

Error Code 10061: Connection refused

Background: The server you are attempting to access has refused the connection with the gateway. This usually results from trying to connect to a service that is inactive on the server.

Date: 10/12/2007 12:40:28 PM [GMT]

Server:corp.server

Source: Remote server

Acctully this error is not clear to tell what the exact problem is...

Please can you tell me are there any more steps required or what I did is enough and also what should be done for correct result...

Thanks,

Gunja

Hi,

Just a guess. It may be problem with the browser also. Check opening the iView using some other browser like Firefox. If it works, then check with the version of the internet explorer u r using. Also my other suggestion is to try opening the same iView from some other machine. This can confirm if it is browser problem or not.

Hi,

Please check that you are able to access the ECC Box from the EP Server. This is a purely connection error either from your end or the network issue.

Please check with the basis guys as well, since there is a service which needs to be added in the services file next to hosts (in drivers->etc folder(windows system).

the file is usually like: sapgw99 3399/tcp.

I can only think of this missing as of now.

Please check and update the thread.

Hi Atul,

Please tell how to check the accessibility of ECC Box from EP Server???

I have asked basis guys to update me on this matter and also check regarding service file- sapgw99 3399/tcp.

Thanks

simply try pinging the ECC server address from the EP Box and vice versa.

Secondly, sapgw99 3399/tcp this is only a sample name. Actual will depend on what your basis guys are using for services name and port number of each.

Hi Gunja Shah,

Give the value "SAP GUI for Windows" For SAP GUI TYPE Field.

& Work it out. Make sure you have done the user mapping properly and also check all the connection properties are correct for the system you have created.

Hello GunJa Shah,

How r u ?

Also take a kind note of these,

****From unknown Source!

<u><b>Difference between SAP GUI Types (HTML, JAVA, Windows)</b></u>

All members of the SAP GUI family have unique attributes that makes them

especially suited for the user environment,

- <b>SAP GUI for HTML</b> runs in standard Web browsers (IE and Netscape on

Windows) without any client installation

"<b>SAP GUI is not required"</b>

- <b>SAP GUI for Java</b> completes the family by providing platform independent

support for Mac OS, OS/2, Linux, and other UNIX platforms, both within and

outside a Web browser

<b>"SAP GUI for Java is needed"</b>

- <b>SAP GUI for Windows</b> provides native support on Windows platforms (Win

95, 98, NT 4, 2000, XP)

hi Gunja,

check for the steps and make sure you haven't missed any:-

will give you a step by step execution

You need to do three different activities here

1)Creation of System object at System Admin side

2)Assigning the system alias to the particular user

3)Creation of iView in the Content admin side

Creation of System object

->sys admin, sytem configuration workset

->system landscape page(The steps may vary in EP 7...I am doing it in EP6)

-Under portal content, select our folder, new system, select sap r/3 dedicated

->provide system name and id.->Finish

under the properties.....select connector:

Application host: enter the ip address of the sap-r/3

then provide the logical system name

enter the client number.........

server port...for sap-r/3 it is 3200

s/m type...select the sap system you are trying to connect with.

and under the user management property

logon method---uidpw

usermapping type--admin, user

save everything.

Now to create the system alias.....goto edit on the top right corner, select system alias.

provide name,for the system alias.

click add..save.

-

User mapping

->user admin role->user mapping ws, find out the user.now edit the user info....select system alias under system..

provide userid and pswd to enter into the sap system.

-

now got to Content admin to create an iView

here under the type of iView, select SAP Transaction iView, now select GUI for windows..select the system alias already created....transaction code is SE11...finish..

Put the iView in a page...ws, role...the usual stuff...

all the best..... Do include your mail id if you are looking for some docs.

Cheers......
