Impact of modified workflow in production

Hi Gurus,

I have a common question and I dont know whether it's already answered. please let know if so.

We have activated PR release workflow template WS20000077. and transported to production.

Now the requirement has changed in such a way that we needed to copy and customize the same workflow template with some additional functionalities.

Now If I deactivate the standard workflow template and activate the new workflow template in production, what will happen to the workflows which are currently pending for approvals ?

Hi Sudhakar,

In my opinion , your old work items will continue to flow as per old template, whereas from the time you have moved and activated the new template in PRD system , it will start working.

After you have copied and modified a workflow, you will need to disable the triggering event for the old flow and enable the trigger for the new flow. The safest way to do this is to

1. Transport the new flow definition into the production system first

2. check that it has been activated properly, and then

3. transport the new event activation and old event deactivation in the same transport request.

Regards,

Akshay
