why CVC is only used in DP?

Hi there,

I have one question: why CVC is only used in DP but not the other applications of APO, like SNP, PP/DS, and GATP?

Thank you.

Karl

I think it depends on the linkage between Master and Transaction data and how the transaction data is stored in APO.

Txn data in APO LiveCache (the blackbox object oriented relational database) is stored in three forms TimeSeries, OrderSeries and ATP TimeSeries.

The table below should explain the relationship.

LiveCache Txn Data Applications Master Data

Time series DP CVC

OrderSeries SNP, PPDS Location-Production combinations

ATP TimeSeries GATP CVC mapped to Location-Product (?)

The last one I am not very clear about since I have not worked on it.

Hope this helps.

Karl Hunt,

DP is the demand planning module of SAP. The CVC based approach helps in:

Aggregation & disaggregation of the data. Example, Demand planner needs to see demand of a product at a particular location and demand of a product at all the locations. Now here product & location are two characteristics. The CVC base approach allows to filter data with exact characteristic values & do the aggregation as explained. This also helps to do forecasting on product/locations that are not maintained as master data in your system. (Like for vmi)

Other APO modules are order based modules. Which are based on master & transactional data. This approach helps to have integration with R/3 system.

In addition to SB.

CVCs get used in GATP module too
