Hi Ravi,

Creating Update Rules for Data Targets

Prerequisites

To be able to maintain update rules, in the Administrator Workbench, choose Modeling - InfoProvider -Your InfoProvider- Context Menu (right mouse button)Create Update Rules.

Procedure

Select a data source. Choose between an InfoSource, ODS object and InfoCube.

Choose Next Screen .

A proposal for the update rules is generated from the data target. You can use Technical Name to display the technical name used to describe the fields.

Alternatively, transfer an update rule from Business Content.

Select a field by double-clicking on it, or use the Type pushbutton.

Define the Update Type for the displayed key figure or data field.

Select an Update Method.

Also select an update method for the characteristics and time reference or for the key fields.

Note: For non-cumulative cubes, only the time reference characteristic and fiscal year variant can be maintained. All other time characteristics are automatically derived from the time-reference characteristic. Therefore, the time-reference characteristic must not be left blank.

Select the next key figure by double clicking on it, or by selecting Type, and repeat steps 4 to 6.

Choose Save if you want to save the rules, without the system carrying out an update.

Choose Activate if you want the update to take place. An InfoProvider can only contain data with an active update rule.

Check the status of the update rules.

It must be set to active to enable the data records for your InfoSource to be updated. If this is not the case, activate the rules.

Hi Ravi,

To know that which field is to be mapped to which object you will get the information in BW. Follow these steps...

Logon to BW and goto SE11. Give the table name RSOSFIELDMAP and click on display.Click on Contents (Ctrlshift10). Give the data source name for which fields you want to find the info object names and click on execute (F8). It will give the list which contains field names and corresponding info object name.

As said in the previous message no need of doing manually. automatically it will take the IO which are availabe in IS and Data targets.

Ravi,

When you right click on cube and create UR, it ask for infosource name. Enter Infosource and hot enter. Automatic mapping will be done based on relevant fields available both in Infosource and datatarget. No manual mapping needed for diect object mapping. However if you need to write any routine or constants, then manually haveto do it.
