HOW TO GET YEAR FROM(YYYYMMDD)? HOW TO GET WEEKDAY FROM(YYYYMMDD)

hi experts,

i have 2 questions:

1. I have a date column in my source file like 20071011(yyyymmdd) in this passion. My question is: i want to display only year like 2007</b></b>.

2. One more question is i give the date in 20071011(yyyymmdd) but it should display only the week day like thursday.

please give the step by step procedure for both 1& 2 questions.

Reading the date if you want to put the year and week to another fields seperately, you can write a routine where you can use function module DATE_GET_WEEK and similarly you can write a small routine to read the year and put it in a new field.

If in reporting you can use exits for formula variables without specific IO's reading the date.

Hi Venkata,

In your update rules go to tab Time Ref.

Fill in the date-field behind year and weekday.

In the column Auto Time conversion a tag will appear.

Hi

1. Try macro to display only first 4 chars

2. Try upload factory calendar and chose value from the factory calendar to display the day...you can try variable
