We are in make to order with sap DIMP mill products , we use apo since we are in length based planning

so we use only PPDS

but there is a new requirement for Demand planning and SNP

Can some one help me how to activate basic configuration of Demand planning and SNP planning

we used demand planning for manual forecasting

i know this is a big topic , just give some basic ideas

Thanks

Raj

HI Raj.

A quick way round that:

transaction: /SAPAPO/SDPPLBK

Against your user name enter the planning book that you created.

/SAPAPO/SDP94 will now open with you plannign book.

hi,

When a user enters interactive planning for the first time, a pop-up

appears prompting the initialisation of 9ADP01. when No is selected,

it takes you to the interactive planning book screen .

in your case :

this problem happens when the standard POS 9ADP01 is inactive.

Please actviate it, even you don't want to use it at //MSDP_ADMIN.

Hi Raj.

To activate POS goto //MSDP_ADMIN.

There is a drop down where it says planning areas to switch to planning object structures.

Hi Rajkumar,

The best reference I can suggest is the Configuration Guides under Best Practice section of help.sap.com. The link for SCM 5.0 documentation is this.

You need to go through DPL Demand Planning, S28 and B06 SNP.

The basic configuration for DP and SNP share the same structure as mentioned below.

You need to create a Master Planning Object Structure (MPOS) where you define the plannable characteristics. Next you create a Planning Area linked to this MPOS where you assign the keyfigures for which you want to manage planning data. Next you need to create Planning Books linked to this Planning Area where you define the keyfigures and planning characteristics you want access through the Data View. Data View an integral part of Planning Book defines the Time Horizon and can further restrcit the keyfigures available for planning.

Planning Book / Data View are used for Interactive Planning and hence can be considered as the end-user interface while MPOS and Planning Area are basic config required in backend (not visible to end-users).

For SNP you copy standard SAP provided Planing Area and Planning Books.

For DP additionally you will need to setup master data in form of Characteristic Value Combinations (CVCs) and other relevant Profiles like Master Forecast Profile, Univariate Profile etc. for demand planning functionalities you want to use.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Somnath
