Using CTS+ with XI

I read an article from Wolf Hengevoss from SAP talking about the use of CTS+:

https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/c...

At the end of his article in the summary, he mentions that if I am on CMS, I should wait until NW 7.0 SP13 before making the transition from CMS to CTS. However, in his other points, he strongly recommends moving to CTS.

Currently, we are using a CMS environment that is on a 6.40 WebAS (NW 04 sp17), but our XI systems are on NW 7.0 SP12. We have experienced some "quirks" in the CMS system over the past couple of months.

My question is why should I wait until SP13, and is it OK to go to CTS+ now instead of waiting?

Thanks,

Eric<a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/webas/java/conflict%20resolution%20–%20How%20to%20Analyze,%20Handle,%20and%20Avoid%20Integration%20Conflicts.pdf">CTS+ Documentation</a>

Dear Mr. Seager,

I think there are some points to be clarified:

- In the article there is no move from CMS to CTS+ in general I propose in general since both will be used. In which form this happens, depends on the usage type.

- CTS+ and CMS (as part of the NDWI) are proposed to be used in combination for Java custom development, where you can set up the development landscape with CMS and manage development and consolidation steps, but can hand over assembled SCAs to CTS+ to deal with TEST and PROD systems.

- For usage types PI (Exchange Infrastructure) and EP (SAP NetWeaver Portal) there are clear benefits in using CTS+.

In case no CTS+ is used the NWDI functions will be used.

Further information on CTS+ you will find in SAP Note 1003674in the SAP Help Portal under http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/45/ec25370fdc3481e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm and in usage type specific How-To-Guides in the SDN.

If you decide to use the CTS+ then SPS13 of SAP NetWeaver 7.0 is available.

Since the integration is going on the recommendation is to use the highest SP available.

Best regards,

Wolf Hengevoss, SAP AG
