Hello,

<b>Upgrade WAS 6.30 to WAS 6.40 Java</b>

We have a WAS 6.20 with WAS 6.30 Java AddOn and want to upgrade this server up to WAS 6.40 Java.

Now my questions:

1. How is the upgrade Sequence? - Which Patches do I need?

2. Can we deinstall the ABAP 6.20 Stack? - How does I can make this?

3. How does i can deploy an existing application from a Java-J2EE Engine to an another Java-System.

Regards,

Ralf Steffens

Hello Siddhesh,

Thank you for your answer. Do you know, whether i can deinstall the existing ABAP-Stack on the WAS 6.20. We want only upgrade the Java 6.30 AddOn to WAS 6.40 Java. The ABAP stack is no more needed!

Hi,

I don't think you can remove the ABAP stack that way.

If you installed the j2ee stack as add-in, you cannot remove ABAP stack and only keep j2ee stack. So your options are:

1. Upgrade j2ee stack to SP4 and then SP13, or

2. Uninstall everything, and install a standalone version of J2ee server.

I'll answer your first question,Current WAS JAVA patch is SP13, as far as I can remember SP4 is the patch which switches from Java 6.30 to Java 6.40.

So the sequence should be Upgrade upto SP4 first and then you may directly apply SP13.

There was a document on SDN which was labeled Introduction to Web application server, this sequence was mentioned in it (if i remember correctly )

I'll post the link if i find it.
