Hello,
I am trying to assign plants to a company code and i get the message:
"Company code and rating code must be the same. Message no. CZ290"
I have set valuation level at company code.

Could you please let me know on which client you are working .If you working in Test client then first remove the assignment of plants from the company code and then set valution area as the palnt.
and reassign the plant to Company code.......

Do one way go to EC01 and check your organisation structure and what data still have and what data not it shown and do the assign or creation of what data you dont have
here shows total updated data

Problem still exists.
I cannot assign the new plants to the company code, but the original plants that the new plants were copied from, were assigned to the company code.

1.In your project if you are using PP/Product costing,you must use valuation area as plant.
2.If it is IDES System,also you have to use valuation area as plant.
If it is not there,
Then Is there any plant(s) had been created with valuation area as plant level before you are created your plant.
Please let me know.

the point is that valuation area must be at company level, so I cannot change that...
Correct me if I am wrong, but valuation level is set once in the beginning, so no plant could have been created with valuation area at plant level (if valuation area can be changed afterwards, I would like to know the way for future installations).

When u create plant( Through copy) use check option to check whether all assignments are copied correctly If not delete same and copy with reference to another plant

Delete existing plant.
Define plant again and copy from existing one and assign to company code.
