In the <b>Releasing Procedure for PO</b> what is the significance of using field <b>creation indicator</b>.

There are different meaning of creation indicator in the context of MRP lists,Pur Req. and so forth are you refering to release indicator?

Go to your release config and open the release indicator section and find the indicator you are using for for final approval.
In this indicator you will see the field selection key FZ01 (if SAP std you have used)
go to Define Screen Layout at Document Level for requisition and locate FZ01
and make the field you don't want user to change as display.
then user will not have access to change the field after release and if you want that if user change any qty or price then system can re determine the release strategy
to do that goto same indicator tab and in the changeability section enter 4 and in the valued chg field enter 0.1
so any changed more than 0.1 will re determine the release

If u r asking release indicator, then it determines
Whether the document may be changed by Purchasing after the start of the release procedure
Whether a new strategy is determined and whether existing releases must be cancelled in the event of changes
Whether the purchasing document is released for transmission
