How to store values in the LCHR 2000

Hi Experts,

I want to store more than 255 character,thats the reason i changed the following table

MANDT

CHAR 255

in the follwing formate

MANDT

INT4

LCHR 2000

This is not storing the value in LCHR 2000.But values is stored correctly in my old table.

Please tel me how to store values in LCHR 2000,if not tel me other solution...
