TREX Crawler Errors

Hi,

Im on Trex 7.1 on 2004S SP13.

Have finally managed to get the servers running, but now am still unable to index a simple web address.

The application log is showing this error for each document that the standard crawler finds...

XIndexing documents failed. null Continue crawling...

Please help.

Hi Mark,

You can try to check your TREX & J2EE configuration in the following way: just upload any text document in the "/documents" folder, create index and try to reindex.

It can show if you have some TREX configuration problems or just your web site is not accessible properly.

Hi,

Have you configured the Alternative Host? This provides a backdoor for TREX to find folders and documents that avoids load balancing or external websites. This allows the index to go directly to a specific server. See

this may be because of host name missing

goto system adminsystem config. knowledge man.-- content mang.-- global services -- show advanced options -- URL generator service -- then check host name , it should be according to ur portal

and also look into sap note 880646

Create a Simple Web Repository :

1.Choose System Administration &#61664; System Configuration &#61664; Knowledge Management &#61664; Content Management &#61664; Repository Managers &#61664; Web Addresses.

2.Choose the New button.

3.Enter a name and URL for the Web Address, and then choose OK.

Check the default Simple Web Repository location

5.Choose System Administration &#61664; System Configuration &#61664; Knowledge Management &#61664; Content Management &#61664; Repository Managers &#61664; Simple Web Repository

The default location is /www which will appear under Content Administration &#61664; KM Content &#61664; Root &#61664; www

Note: if you do not see any content in this repository, you should check whether you need a proxy server for accessing external servers.

Change the proxy of your Enterprise Portal

6.Navigate to System Administration &#61664; System Configuration &#61664; Service Configuration &#61664; Applications &#61664; com.sap.portal.ivs.httpservice &#61664; Services

7.Double-click the proxy

8.Enter the following values:HTTP – Enable Proxy setting :True

HTTP Proxy Host •Proxy value (Eg: proxy.wdf.sap.corp)

HTTP Proxy Port •8080

9.Select Save

10.Right-click the com.sap.portal.ivs.httpservice folder and select Administrate

11.Select the Restart link and close the editor

Sorry, this doesnt help.

Host Name is populated correctly.

In the www folder I can see a single resource which is essentially the initial page of the web address I am trying to index. if I click on it I open up the website.

We dont use proxy servers here.
