We have a scenario to upgrade the solution manager system from version 2.1 to 4.0. But couldnt find any upgrade guides in the market place. Guide is available only for the upgrade from 3.1 to 4.0.
Please suggest where i can find the solution for the upgrade.

I could think of a possiblility to transfer projects, service desk (with help by SAP Consulting or Remote Consulting).
It really depends on the importance of the data.
If the data are of less importance or can easily be restored manually,
I would recommend to install and configure SolMan 4.0 and to enter
the data again (Landscapes, RFCs, EarlyWatch Alert, Service Level
Reporting, ...)
Unfortunately, it is not possible to upgrade directoy from 2.1 to 4.0,
so, another alternative is that maybe you can try migrate the data from
2.x-3.1 and then upgrade 3.1 directly to 4.0"</b>
Right now we are using the solution manager is only for the "service desk" The reason we are going for the further upgrade is for using its extended functionalities. We are not so keen on having the old service desk data back in the target system.
The data we want to have it in the target system is the user data for which there is additional data coming from a legacy system and also the development and customisation work we did on the source system.
Without going for upgrade and by installing the new system can we have this on the Solman 4.0
