Regarding ATP and Availability check

What is the difference between ATP and Availability check? Can you please define these two. which cases can we use these two?

ATP - is the qty which can free with out any commitment. It can be for product sales or it can be for raw material of PP order.

Availiability check - Is the function which is performed to get the ATP qty.

By performing availability check you will get ATP qty, by which you can book sales order or commit raw material to a production oder.

<b>Following write up will give some more light on the same issue...how Ava checking happens in system</b>

Ava check of material consists of 2 things

1. checking rule - defined for a transaction - PP for production order, A is for sales order, B is for delivery etc.

2. Checking group - what you define in material master 01/02/CH.

Combination of above checking rule and checking group will fix the scope of check.

Hence in OPJJ, you need to give checking rule and checking group both.

as per understanding 01 will not change to 02 as in that plant 01 is fixed if it is in material master.

Hi

ATP logic can be used during the availability check . Apart from this availability check can be performed against PIR's also.

During availability check against ATP ,whether the requirement quantity can be covered by specific receipts or stock can be considered .If a quantity can be committed for the requirement date, the system enters this quantity as the committed quantity and the ATP quantity for the components is reduced by the committed quantity. Therefore, in the next availability check, dependent requirements can only be committed for the.

ATP-- Avaialbility to Promise,

more relevenat for sales guys, as this gives the availability date. relevant in Sales orders and deliveries.

Avaialability Check

Relevent in Production orders, planned orders and Process orders we it checks the for the avaialbility of the compinenets and reports the missing parts information.
