when we create infosource and go to Destination tab, it shows two options to extract data in

1)DB Table

2)File

My quesiton is about logical file name, this thing is related with 2)File options?

And what is the purpose of this Logical File name?

What is the difference b/w Logical File Name and physical file name?

oh sorry, my question is really ambiguous,

I'm working on Open Hub Services. (extract data to target location)

I created a InfoSpoke, On General Tab set the desired values,

On Destination Tab: I've to set my destination locataion, so extracted data can go there.

It shows me two target location

1) DB Table

2) File

My question is about Logical File Name. Is this option is only for File? Or what does logical file name mean?

And what is the purpose of this Logical File name?

What is the difference b/w Logical File Name and physical file name?

I think, above lines are now more clear.

Hi,

logical filename is for files only that's correct. The difference between a) logical and b) physical file is:

a) you define a logical filename with variables ... in transaction file in order to be platform and path independant.

b) a physical file is the file name including the path.

As already mentioned, you maintain logical filenames in transaction 'FILE'.

Hope it helps
