YES,

Reboot will stop all the other services that are running and jamed. also, it will clean the old buffer too.

Please try and it should work fine.

can you tell me briefly how r u applying sp12? kinda explain from step 1 please. I can correct it if anythign missin.

Please reboot your system and try again. make sure no one is doing anything while you are applying patches.
