hi,
i have to install ESS in our portal. In the installation-instruction under 'Setting up the system landscape' it says:
a. Set up a system on the Portal J2EE server on which the business package is installed. Assign the alias SAP_WebDynpro_XSS to this system.
I don't understand this. HOW should i Set up this system ?? When creating a system i have the following list (sorry, its in german language !!!!) of
possible types of system. WHICH one is mentioned abvoe ??
BI - JDBC-System
BI - ODBO-kompatibles OLAP-System
BI - SAP Query System
BI - XMLA-kompatibles OLAP-System
Dedizierter Anwendungsserver für SAP-System
EP-5.0-System
HTTP-System
JDBC-System
KM-Lotus-System
KM-WebDAV-System
KM-Windows-System
SAP-System mit Lastausgleich
SAP-System über Verbindungs-String
Web-Service-System verwendet WSDL-URL
Hi,
All you need to do is go to System Administration->System Configuration and create a new system (dedicated one (or in german engagiert)) and provide the alias name as SAP_WebDynpro_XSS . You will also be required to create some more systems and that also needs to be created here only.
Please ensure that you use the same alias name as written in your manual.
Hope this helps!

Martin,
You can select SAP system dedicated. Give the following properties: Application host-->(Portal host)
logon method (UIDPW or tickets)
user admin protocol: http or https
user mapping type
WAS desc:
WAS host name: <server>:<port> like-->(sapep.company.com:50000)
WAS path: /webdynpro/dispatcher
WAS protocol : http or https
Save and create alias for the system.

you are absolutely correct - you need to setup the webdynpro connector just like any other R3_LoadBalancing system connector except
You only need to use the WebAS settings - and this is where you point to the webdynpro implementation for ESS/MSS. This could be your local portal or a separate webas implementation etc etc.
The Webas path will be something like
/dispatcher/webdynpro (or maybe the other way round) - dont have an HR connected portal system right now to confirm.
Thanks
Haydn
