what about data flow
what means of data flow?
what means of copying controls?
what means of copy requirments?
hi,
what about data flow. what means of data flow?
a) It is how the data is flowing between different functions/processes.
eg: order to delivery
what means of copying controls?
a) Now when the data is flowing not all of it would be required in the subsequent stages. This is need to controlled based on some needs. This mechanism is setup in SAP with copy contrlols.
what means of copy requirments?
a) The needs i mentioned in the previous answer are formulated as copying requirements which is nothing but abap code, based on the validations are made and only the required data is sent to the next step.
Thanks

Hello Mohamed,
Here i am giving you conceptual idea of ur questions.
<b>Data flow</b>:
When you data of any field of any table is executed and it updates other data is simply the data flow. In SAP SD we have copy controls where we are defining copy control rules. Which determines how the data will be copied and from which document to another one. In copy control we find two different and quite confusing flows. One is document flow and another one is data flow.
Document flow is something like after one document which one document is generated, such kind of track we can have. In case of data flow we can determine such as pricing in billing will be apdated from sales order and not from delivery. There are many type of data flow we see in SAP.
You can use SAP CRM to perform order processing and pricing tasks you used to perform in R/3. Find out how to move this data from your R/3 system to your SAP CRM system so you keep any enhancements you made to the R/3 data to support your business requirements. And the most beautiful game of data flow you can see in BW. Where, you play with data only.
I suppose data flow will be clear to you.
Now <b>Copying controls</b>:
Copy Control is basically meant that Data is copied from preceding Document to subsequent one. What subsequent Document is required is to some extent determined by Customer Requirements as well as Document Types. e.g. In general case of Standard Order, it will be Copy Control (Order to Delivery) from OR to LF .
These are transaction codes to define copy controls.
VTFA--> copy control from order to invoice
VTAA--> copy control from order to order
VTLA--> copy control from order to delivery
VTFL--> copy control from delivery to invoice
VTAF--> copy control from billing to order
VTFF--> copy control from billing to billing
And <b>Copying routines</b>: Here I would like to explain it in better way.
Copying routines are special requirement of a business process which is known as VOFM routines in technical terminology.
Depending on the business processes used it may be necessary to influence the standard behavior of R/3 applications. For that purpose the VOFM function provides a corresponding environment in order to be able to develop and manage customer-specific logic simply.
The system stores the objects generated via the VOFM in the Customizing of the respective application area (Pricing, message determination and so on) and its programs call the objects correspondingly. Also SAP delivers certain functions in the form of VOFM objects. Consequently, the VOFM is an exit technology and you can find it in more detail in Note 381348.
Typical VOFM objects are requirements, formulas and data transfer routines.
These are used in processes of the purchase order, the delivery, billing, price determination, material determination, message determination, the free goods, the pricing and of others.
As in user exits, in VOFM objects are many fields and tables available. Thus, the use of VOFM objects is very versatile and consequently also very critical under certain circumstances. For the use of "customer-specific" VOFM objects the statements in Note 381348 regarding the responsibility for customer enhancements (Maintenance responsibility, problems during the upgrade and so on) apply. Read this note carefully before you decide on the use of customer-specific VOFM objects.
Errors and data inconsistencies that are caused by improper application or implementation of VOFM objects are not processed by the SAP Support but exclusively within the framework of the Consulting that has to be purchased separately.
if u still have doubts come back.

Hello Mohamed,
Data flow means how data flow from one document to another. Like ship to party, plant flows from order to delivery or Bill to party, Payer flows from sales order to invoice.
This flow of data is controlled through copy controls.
VTLA--> copy control from order to delivery
VTFL--> copy control from delivery to invoice
VTFA--> copy control from order to invoice
VTAA--> copy control from order to order
VTAF--> copy control from billing to order
VTFF--> copy control from billing to billing
We can maintain the settings in above transactions.
Copying requirements is a copying routine. The routine checks that certain
requirements are met when one document is copied into another.
For example, when you copy a quotation into a sales order, the system
can check each item in the quotation to make sure that it has not been
rejected by the customer for some reason.
Hope it helps.
Regards,
Priyanka

Hi Mohamed,
COPY CONTROLS :
With copy control we can specify for a particular sales document type, which document type is to be assigned to copied reference documents, and which item categories or schedule line categories are to be copied.
You must also make specifications for copying requirements and data transfer, as well as quantity and value updates in document flow. This must be done for each copying procedure at header, item and, if necessary, schedule line level on a detail screen.
In SD make sure to maintain copy control for the following areas:
Sales documents
Deliveries
Billing documents
In sales, you can find copy controls for:
Sales document by sales document
Billing document by sales document
In deliveries, you can find copy controls for:
Sales document by delivery
In billing, you can find copy controls for:
Sales document by billing document
Delivery by billing document
Billing document by billing document
The transaction codes for copy controls are
VTLA order type to delivery type
VTAA order type to order type
VTFL delivery type to billing doc type
VTFA order type to billing doc type
VTFF billing doc type to billing doc type
VTAF billing doc type to order type (example would be Returns).
Maintain Copy Control for Sales Documents
In this menu option, you define control data for the document flow of sales documents.
You can specify for a particular sales document type, which document type is to be assigned to copied reference documents, and which item categories or schedule line categories are to be copied.
You must also make specifications for copying requirements and data transfer, as well as quantity and value updates in document flow. This must be done for each copying procedure at header, item and, if necessary, schedule line level on a detail screen.
Note
If you define new sales document types, item categories or schedule line categories by copying existing ones, the SAP system automatically copies all specifications for the document flow. You may want to check the copy controls for newly created sales document types, item categories or schedule line categories.
Actions
1. Check the document flow defined in the standard SAP R/3 System.
2. Define to what extent you have to modify its specifications to meet your requirements.
3. Define the document flow for sales documents with reference to sales document types.
4. Define the document flow for sales documents with reference to billing types.
Note
Make sure to maintain copy control for the following areas:
Sales documents
Deliveries
Billing documents
If you cannot find an entry, check the copy controls in other chapters.
Complete overview of copy control:
In the chapter on sales, you can find copy controls for:
Sales document by sales document
Billing document by sales document
In the chapter on deliveries, you can find copy controls for:
Sales document by delivery
In the chapter on billing, you can find copy controls for:
Sales document by billing document
Delivery by billing document
