Dear,
It is possible to have VC for Make to stock
There are many ways of doing this.
-
option 1
-
example - you are producing cars. you have following chars. You have one material number which represents variant configuration (Kmat) CAR
Char-1 - colour of car (white/red/pink)
Char-2 - engine type(petrol/diesel)
Chat-3 - Engine CC(800cc/1000cc)
One perticular combination of char lets say
Colour of car-white, engine type is petrol and engine CC is 800, is pop[ular and should be produced and keep in stock so that delivery time is very less.
Hence this perticular car is created as a material number (halb material)and refer the material no CAR in basics data 2 and enter the combination of char in basic data 2. This is called variant of CAR.
This can be planned as a normal MTS material like 40/10...etc.

option 2

Hi
Could u please tell till what stage is make to order and what stage is make to stock.
If the final product is make to order, then VC strategy 25 may be applied and for procurment of the components and keeping them ready on the line, Make to stock strategy 40 can be used.

Chandra
