Hi all

I have one query, sometimes what happens when we try to initialize tape it could not initialize and turns red instead of green. and we can try only 3 times (1 used for backup)

Do we have any settings through which we can increase these options.

Hi Bhupinder,

Can you pl clarify a bit more?

What message it gives if you try for the 4th time?

Yes

We dont hav choice to create new event. (5th)

try to go to db13 and u will see that we have only 4 events to create.

it may be initialization of tape (there may be two tapes)

or it may be scheduling of backup.

its ok, if u got my question. Otherwise i can mail u screen short give id?

OO

Got your point.

U mean u can only schedule 4 actions isnt it?

In the db13 screen for to Calender menu----->Calender Display--->Change the Number of Items per Day tab to say 10. You can schedule 10 actions a day.

Actually there is no such parameters by which you can increase the no of times you can initialize the tapes.

If initialization fails there might be a problem with the tape. Try to format it via the os level tools i mean non sap one. Then initialize it via db13. Try with volume name SCRATCH and try.

Hope this helps.

Pl award suitable points if resolved.

Thanks

one more thing, as i said if initialize fails due to any reason, can we remove that entry from list (which turns red due to error)

yes you can, but you will need to fiddle tables SDBAH and SDBAD.

it is not really useful.

leave the red entries there, it will not harm your system.

Hi,

Agree Eric but not only SDBAH and SDBAD but also SDBAC and may be a lot more.

Search for SDB* in se11.(for Bhupinder)

So better to leave it as it is as suggested by Eric.

Pl Award suitably.

Manas,

table SDBAC has nothing to do with his problem.

SDBAC is used to define which OS commands will run, nothing to do with red status in DB13.
