Adding a file to a RAR file - How much size is reduced?

Hello Everyone,

I want to add some of my existing files to RAR files as i hv to save them for future in my email as attachment and the files are around 50 - 70 MB in size . I hv downloaded the RAR file setup ,can someone plz tell how much size is reduced when adding an existing file to RAR archive . I can send attachemnts of round 9 MB only in mail . wt is the procedure of compressing those files when adding to RAR archive? Requested to revert at earliest as this is very urgent . Points guaranteed .

This question has nothing to do with Oracle

Not sure why it is post here.

Nevertheless, compression will depend on the type of file ( on the content )

an ascii file ( like the oracle alert log ) will compress a lot but a binary file ( like the oracle binary ) will not compress so much.

It is not possible to give you a guide.

For the RAR parameters, you should check the manual, readme or inline help ( probably you can do "rar -?"
