Hi, this may seem trivial, but i can't find any info that specifically answers my question.

To make .net calls out (SAP as client) with the .NET connector, does SAP need to be running on a windows box?

No need to make sap run on windows.

You can assume your scenario as web service call.

All of the function is follow some rules or protocol(RFC). Talking in RFC, the sap and other platform can call each other loosely and smoothly.
