Mobile Client - Tray icon right click -> homepage : replace by shortcut ?

Hello,

After a user hits the close button of the mobile client the client isn't really down. In fact it's still running and can be poped up again by rightclicking the tray icon and choosing homepage.

In fact on a touchscreen this isn't that simple and we would like to put a shortcut on te desktop. Or an alternative is when the user closes the client it's really down. One of those 2 options would be ok.

For the first one:

We cannot use the existing one to start the mobile client because it tries to startup a second instance. This is not possible and the seconds mobileengine.exe process disappears. However the user sees then a blank screen and still have to do the rightclick homepage click.

For the second one:

Is it possible to shutdown the client by choosing the close button?

Thanks for helping.

Kind regards,

jeroen

Hi Jeroen

Well MI Client runs on top of a Tomcat webserver. By closing the browser window using the X button, MI Client will not be shutdown meaning the tomcat server isnt shutdown - rather it shouldnt be shutdown at all. This logic holds good for all real time web apps. For example when you open www.sap.com and close the browser, you are not shutting down the server on which this site runs on. The only way is to use system tray -> Stop or Exit which will shutdown the tomcat server as well.

For the 2nd problem where in a blank page is displayed when a 2nd instance of MI is launched, we have fixed this issue and will be available in the upcoming patches on MI Client.

Hope this helps.

Best Regards

Sivakumar
