SDM not working after upgrade to SP12

Former Member

I have just upgraded my Netweaver from SP9 to SP12. After doing the upgrade, SDM no longer runs and attempting to manually start it also fails.

A colleague of mine who also installed SP12 has the same problem.

Any suggestions?

Walter

The SDM isn't crashing.. it just seems to start, and then immediately stop itself.

Here is the Developer Trace:

I know this is a silly question but is J2ee up and running?

Hi,

Have you ensured that SDM is in 'integrated' mode ?

Generally if SDM is detaching from the JStartupFramework, you must set SDM in 'integrated' mode.

In order to start it via JStartupFramework you should set it to "integrated" mode. Open command prompt in directory /usr/sap///SDM/program and execute:

sdm jstartup mode=integrated

I think, while applying the patch the SDM switches to standalone mode.

Hi Siddhesh

I tried doing "sdm jstartup mode=integrated" but it doesn't accept this statement.

I can start the SDM by going to the command window and running StartServer.bat. It tells me that the SDM is running in STANDALONE mode. How do I get it to run in integrated mode? And how do I get it so that it automatically starts when my J2EE engine starts?

Thanks Siddhesh,

I tried again to use your previous suggestion:

In order to start it via JStartupFramework you should set it to "integrated" mode. Open command prompt in directory /usr/sap///SDM/program and execute:

sdm jstartup mode=integrated

The trick is to put "mode=integrated" in quotation marks, so that the correct line is:

sdm jstartup "mode=integrated"

Now my SDM is working fine!

sdm jstartup "mode=integrated" works fine!

Instead of useing the command you can also edit the config file on your server.

\usr\J2E\JC00\SDM\program\config\sdmrepository.sdc

<sdm-opertaion-mode>

integrated

</sdm-operation-mode>

regards,

Markus

Have you checked note 756084:Common met SDM v6.30/6.40 problems

For some commonly observed SDM related problems.
