N4S testdrive on SUSE 10.2 license problem

Former Member

Hi all, I tryed to install N4S testdrive on my linux SUSE X86_64 (on intel core 2 DUO) but I had 2 problems:

1) Link http://www50.sap.com/linux/eval/nw4/ does not work I was redirected.

So I Did compile the form with my HWKEY (saplicense -get)

https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1pdCZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/minisap/minisap.htm

The problem is: in the mail there is no RPM file but N4S.txt file. I tryed to insert LKEY manually with saplicense -install but the program wanted a 24 chars KEY and in the N4S.TXT there is a very long KEY ... > 400 chars

2) When I started SAP (startsap N4Shost) there was no problem but when I tryed to connect with my notebook I wait a neverending progress bar with no error on SAPGUI.

PS: I installed SUSE JAVA (IMB JDK doesn't work with SUSE 10.2).

PLESA HELP ME .....

THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Hi Mario,

first: to get an .txt is alright, the manual is wrong at this point of installation. (BUT this is what you have to do AFTER downloading and installing the SDK)

If you want to install it:

start the SAP Server

connect with a SAP GUI

login as SAP*

go to Transaction slicensce

klickt the 'new licenses' Button on the top

an then klick import.

It will bring you a Dialog , in which you have to navigate to the .txt File, and select it

after opening it, you'll have a it installed.

secondly:

You have to donwload the IBM SDK!

I had this Problem a while ago, and I had to download the IBM Java thing.

after installing, I had to 'Update-alternatives Java' as root, and select it.

After that it all worked perfectly.

(And I'm running a openSuSE 10.2 x64 System with Java 1.4.2_x64)

here is 'my' thread if you like to take a look.

EDIT: The Site of IBM is down and it send you to an SAP Note.

But, if you just log in to the IBM Side and get the Java-Software there, everything is perfect

Hello Markus,

how is one supposed to add the license when the old license already is expired? Then it is not possible to access transaction SLICENSE any longer (because it is not possible to log on). And "saplicense" on the cli does not accept this new style of license files...

You need to set the profile parameter

login/no_automatic_user_sapstar 0

restart the system and login as User SAP* (or DDIC) and add the license with that user.

Hello Markus Döhr,

thanks for that extremely quick and helpful reply!

Just for reference (if any other user is running into that):

By using the password "sapn4sadm" in client 000 (with either SAP* oder DDIC), it is not even necessary to restart the server, as this user is already there...
