How to prevent t EAN from being common?

Dear Sir / Madam,

In IS retail-

I am facing a problem, while creating articles in article master- MM41, the EAN Nos are assigned to articles-- while doing the same it has been observed that few of the EAN nos are common for different articles...?

If any config settings... please suggest and advice.

Hi Vishal,

EAN should be unique for an article and unit of measure.

If you attach same EAN number to different UOM, then you will face lot of problems at POS. Therefore, you have to generate different EAN for each unit of measure.

As you are aware, sale price, promotion and bonus buys data transfer from SAP to POS through EAN only. Therefore, it is not advisable to transfer same EAN to different unit of measure for a same article code.

<b>To avoid this, convert System message 0 M3 347 from Warning to Error.</b> (i.e. EAN already used for unit of measure & of this material)

Hi Vishal,

In order to avoid the same EAN being used for different articles,you can have different number ranges based on EAN categories.Over and above you can also have internal and external number ranges for which you can define your own number ranges.

You can check the below mentioned path for the same:

Logistcis general>Material master>Settings for Key Fields-->International Article numbers
