Does transport request processing during business hours create problem?

Hello,

We have a ECC5.0 system with 3 system landscape.Recently our functional consultants created a set of configurations in development and tested in quality. The configurations was related to EWT(finance) and it has 15 transport request associated with it.Now we have to move that changes to production.

Is it safe to do transport during when users are using the system.Because the configurations which is going to be moved to production will implement massive changes on frequent transactions of users in production. The changes in the tables due to transport should not conflict with the work of end users in the system.Hence should we do it during non-business hours where no users are there in the system? Please put in your suggestions.

Thanks and regards

Syamkrishnan

Hi,

It's better to import tranport requests during off business hours when it is possible.

We have now a HA R/3 system running 7/7 24/24 with several RFC calls per second. So we have no choice and there is a short dump risk for each tranport request import. It is luckilly generally fine...

i would suggest doing it at a downtime just to be on the safer side..in case objects are locked etc..also it will affect performance.

Hi Shyam ,

Ravi is right, you allway's better to move Transport request during off peak period, in peak time system performance get effected. You will be flooded with call's from business users...

Hari.
